Read more »     Is it Ok to decline a PhD offer after officially accepting in favor of another one that is a much better fit in terms of the work that I am interested in doing? I accepted an offer in February(at that time that was my only one) where I liked the PI but the work was not exactly aligned to my goals. I now have another offer at a lab where the work is perfectly aligned. I am afraid of coming across as unprofessional, but given how long and important a commitment this is, I feel I should go with the program that I think is a better match.
