The vehicle landscape in Uganda is dominated by used vehicles, imported primarily from Japan, as new vehicles remain unaffordable for most Ugandans. BMI is forecasting total newly registered vehicles, comprising both new and old vehicles, to come in at 64,658 in 2017, up from the estimated 39,747in 2012. Driving our forecasts is improvement in the services, construction, and manufacturing sectors, slowly falling interest rates and acceleration in GDP growth.
