The three-week long industrial action by the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) had a negligible impact on domestic new vehicle sales in August 2013. Total vehicle sales reached 56,112 units, down slightly from sales of 56,270 in August 2012. Cumulative sales for the first eight months of 2013 reached 436,010 units – up almost 6% compared with the same period last year.
